Emdlangeni Skills Development Academy gives back to the needy in Endumeni Municipality

The community members, who did not want to be named, told the Courier that since the December floods, their homes and personal belongings had been destroyed and they thanked the organization for the parcels received.

Emdlangeni Skills Development Academy and Industrial Development Corporation, a non-profit organization from Utrecht, held a relief programme at the Sibongile Hall on Monday afternoon to assist the flood victims from Craigside farm, Dlamini village 1-2 and Marikana location, where food parcels blankets and mattresses were handed out.
A total of 164 beneficiaries from two sections of Craigside Farm benefited from receiving food parcels while 134 from Dlamini Village, 1-2, and 134 from Marikana location 1 received food parcels.
There are 12 directors from the Emdlangeni Skills Development Academy, representing different areas and many volunteers who assist in contributing to the needy in disaster areas, says coordinator Mgazi Nshangazi for the distribution for Dundee.

Mgazi Nshangazi said the Emadlangeni Skills Development Academy NPC is achieving more with their initiatives than ever before. “We work on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of others and are very proud of the progress we continue to make.”
Activities and Programmes (5 years to 18 years):
“We have programmes and activities that develop, empower and mentor our youngsters and youth from (5 years of age to 18 years). We offer Ceramic Art, Acting Classes, Poetry and Motion, Dance, Drums, Soccer and Traditional Zulu Music including a Marimba Band. We also have a programme of assisting our learners with homework and school projects.”

Activities and Programmes (18 years to 55 years):
“We have activities and programmes for young adults and elders (18years to 55years) doing Beadwork, making Bricks, Baking, Bricklaying, Steel/Metalwork, Woodwork, Aluminium Work, Cake Backing, Basic Electrical Engineering, Travel and Tourism, Art and Crafts, Sewing Traditional Clothing: Amabheshu, Izimbatha, Udidla, Izidwaba, Amahawu, Izicole, Imiqhele, We also do household accessories like Izinkemba (wooden cooking spoons), Amacansi (Indigenous Mat), Izinkemba and Izinqoko (Wooden Meat Platter).
Programmes for Women, Children and Young Girls:
Nshangazi told the Courier that the organisation supports women through a programme of psychological, moral and emotional support. The purpose of this programme is to provide security, warmth, acceptance and safety to Women and Children who are victims of Domestic Violence, Rape, HIV/Aids and Covid-19.
