Dundee High’s hostel learners get emotional and spiritual support
With them not staying with their families, there was a need to give the learners a family of their own while at the hostel.
‘We believe, we belong and we build’ is the motto of E-37, a Christian youth discipleship group operating from the Dundee High School hostel.
E-37 was started in January 2022 by Mark and Gaby Stein after they were approached by the school hostel matron, Julie Richardson.
“Being a mother of the hostel teens, Julie noticed that the hostel children needed extra support – emotionally and spiritually.
“What started off as a small prayer group of two leaders and five teenage girls has now grown into a busy and very active ministry with a leadership team of 11 and up to 45 teens every Friday night at the DHS hostel,” Gaby explained.
“Our vision is to disciple our youth through the preaching of the beautiful gospel of Jesus to demonstrate His unconditional love and manifest His dominion on earth as it is in Heaven. Furthermore, we endeavour to unite the various youth groups within the Dundee district and are in the planning stages of hosting a combined event.
“It is our privilege to serve and love our spiritual sons and daughters, and walk in obedience to fulfil the Great Commission given to by Jesus.”
She explained that the name is derived from a well-known prophetic book in the Bible, Ezekiel – chapter 37, which describes a renewed army of God, filled with his new life, hope and restoration.
Matthew 28:18-20: Then Jesus came close to them and said, ‘All authority of the universe has been given to Me. Now wherever you go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.
