Biggarsberg cycling challenge set to bring visitors to the Dundee area

The race has been sanctioned by Cycling KZN to ensure that entrants from around the province and beyond will compete.

Excitement is mounting for the Dundee area’s first ‘proper’ cycling race in many years.

Organised by Tourism Dundee, the Biggarsberg Cycle Race to start and end at Dundees’ Talana Museum on June 16, will see cyclists tackle a tough route (there are two distances) through the historic battlefields area of Northern KZN.

“This is a new race to encourage new and different forms of tourism in our area,” said Tourism Dundee’s Patricia Zoya.

“The race is registered with Cycling KZN and has professional registration and timekeeping companies participating in the event. The routes will take cyclists through lovely countryside on quiet tar roads, and up and down mountains that will test your endurance.”

The event is to be held in conjunction with Cycling KZN Development who will be training the marshals and entering some of their riders in the races. Enquiries and booking of stalls at Talana Museum for the day Dundee Tourism. Info@tourdundee.co.za or 071 175 7399.
