Glencoe Primary holds mock election complete with their own parties

The primary school children showed their enthusiasm for the democratic process...

Tomorrow is election day yet many will not bother to cast a vote – the right of which to do so was so hard fought for.

In the 2019 election, the voter turnout was around 66%. So while many adults may not bother to vote, learners at Glencoe Primary School are only too eager to do their bit for democracy when their time comes.

Today, after lots of campaigning, four ‘parties’ competed for support among learners. These were the KFC Party (led by Colonel Lloyd), The Sweet Party (with the leader, Mr van Rooyen promising a sugary sweet experience for all supporters), The Tea Party (that claimed that by drinking tea, voters would see the difference and The WWJD Party with the slogan, ‘Planting seeds of kindness’.

It was great fun and gave the learners a clear indication of the importance of voting. See the Courier for details on which party won!
