Hard drugs seized from a dealer in Dundee’s CBD
Dundee's CBD is an area where hard drugs are openly offered to passers-by including school children.
50 small bags of hard drugs were seized and a 31-year-old foreign national was arrested after police swooped on an area in Smith Street that is notorious for drug dealing.
SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana said the recent intelligence-driven operation was part of high-density operations throughout the district.
“Police are working tirelessly to reduce contact crimes, through confiscating illegal firearms and drugs, and closing illegal shebeens in the district,” said Nkwanyana. In another incident, a 32-year-old male was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition while Msinga Crime Prevention officers were conducting ‘stop and searches’ along the R33.
A 35-year-old man was arrested when he was found in possession of an unlicensed pistol and ammunition after his vehicle was pulled over by members of the Umzinyathi District Task Team, who were conducting ‘stop and searches’ on the R74 near Greytown High School. All the suspects are set to appear in court this week.
