Msinga women apprehended for possession of illegal firearms, ammunition

An intelligence-driven operation was conducted in the Esdakeni area, which saw the apprehension of the 25-year-old woman.

Police have arrested a Msinga woman who was found with an AK-47 rifle, a shotgun and 105 rounds of ammunition. All were unlicensed. The arrest was made last Thursday as part of the National Intervention Operation Deployment, being used as one of the mechanisms to reduce crime in the area.
“Part of this effort is confiscating all illegal firearms in the area,” said SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.

She was detained at Msinga police station and will appear in the Msinga Magistrate’s Court.
