Community helps to foil a robbery in Dannhauser

The community has been advised to avoid the area while the SAPS investigation continues.

Two men were arrested by members of the Dannhauser community this afternoon after they attempted to rob a clothing store on Main Street.

A third man was shot and injured by security guards on duty at an adjacent business but still managed to make a getaway in a vehicle, witnesses at the scene said.

According to witnesses, three men entered the Rage Store, where they threatened a store worker and demanded money. However, the employee quickly raised the alarm, prompting swift action from nearby security guards.

Community members played a vital role in helping to apprehend the two remaining suspects, who were later identified as being from Ladysmith.

A police investigation is ongoing to determine the full details of the attempted robbery.
