Flooding hits Peacevale and Forestdale after Dundee deluge

Peacevale residents were on tenterhooks on Sunday evening after rising flood waters rushed through the area.

Several homes in Peacevale and Forestdale were flooded following last night’s heavy rainstorm. Residents reported flooding at a single-level flat complex on Browning Street, and several homes on Nightingale Street were also impacted.

The Steenkoolspruit came down in flood again, affecting homes on Tom Worthington Street as were homes on Magnolia Street.

Wall fell over on Tom Worthington Drive.

Cllr Saleem Abdool said Disaster Management had been mobilised and that no residents were in immediate danger.

Mac Osman of NDE 911 Active said the situation was monitionered and affected residents assisted. Updates will be provided as they come in.

On Monday morning, the Road Angels group again reported that the Dundee/Vryheid road, the R33, was under water at Cotswold. Traffic is at a standstill and motorists are urged to use alternative routes.
