Rhino Wrestling Club grabs gold at Baby Shark Championships

Rhino wrestlers shine at Newcastle’s Baby Shark Championships, with 12 golds and Logan Vorster named Wrestler of the Day.

Twelve young athletes from the Rhino Wrestling Club returned home with gold medals after competing in the Baby Shark Championships, held in Newcastle over the weekend.

The event saw six clubs battle it out on the mats, with Rhino wrestlers dominating across various divisions. Clubs competing included Amersfoort Wrestling, the Newcastle Cougars, the Valke from Volksrust, Vryheid, and Richards Bay.

Standout performers from the Rhino team included Tion Brown, Byron Coetzer, and Uzu Ngidi, who showed exceptional strength and skill throughout the tournament.

However, it was six-year-old Logan Vorster who stole the show with a clinical and composed display. He was named Wrestler of the Day for his standout performance.

The 12 Rhino wrestlers who earned gold medals were:
Logan Vorster, Sandre Vorster, Grasy Barnard, Byron Coetzer, Mitchell Terry, Bastian Lippke, Sussie Makautse, Cayden Spies, Uzu Ngidi, Ruan Eloff, and Tion Brown.

Coach Steven Brown praised the team’s effort and spirit, saying the Baby Shark Championships had once again proven to be more than just a competition.
