Protea bowler in Dundee to select district players

Players from around the district flocked to the Dundee Bowling Club for trials.

Dundee Bowling Club was abuzz with activity recently when it hosted the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls (KZNCB) Open and Veteran Singles Playoffs, along with the district trials.

The four-day event saw top-class bowls played throughout, with strong camaraderie both on and off the greens, adding to the spirit of the competition.
Congratulations go to John Douthwaite and Alice Howe, both from Newcastle, who emerged victorious in the Open Playoffs.

In the Veterans category, Richard Allan from Empangeni and Barbara Baleri from Ladysmith claimed top honours.
The club also congratulated its members who have been selected to represent KZNCB District at the upcoming President’s Cup in Zululand in October.

A special highlight of the weekend was the presence of Springbok bowler Francesca Baleri – who has represented South Africa in Australia and Namibia – serving as one of the selectors for the trials.
Well done to all the players, organisers and supporters for making the event a success.
