Armed robbers assaulted two guards and fled with R100 000 after holding up staff at a Nquthu store.

Two security guards were assaulted and robbed of their firearms when armed men confronted staff at Browns Cash and Carry in Nquthu on Friday morning, before fleeing with around R100 000.

According to a Nquthu SAPS spokesperson, the suspects parked their vehicle a short distance from the store before entering and holding staff at gunpoint.
“Two guards were robbed of their firearms, and one required medical attention after being assaulted,” the spokesperson confirmed.

The robbers fled in what is believed to have been a bakkie. A manhunt for the suspects is underway.
