Talana Museum invites visitors to step back in time this October

Talana Museum invites the community to rediscover Dundee’s history with exhibitions, family activities, and vintage car rides on October 18 and even read the old Couriers!

Talana Museum invites all history enthusiasts to step back in time at a special heritage event on Saturday, October 18, from 10:00 to 16:00.

The event promises a full day of nostalgia, showcasing Dundee’s rich past through behind-the-scenes tours, a temporary photo exhibition of “Old Dundee” from the archives, and a special display celebrating 100 years of the Northern KZN Courier. Visitors can also enjoy live demonstrations featuring unusual artefacts from the museum’s collections.

A wide range of stalls will be available, offering art, crafts, beadwork, plants, Christmas gifts, a photo frame exhibition, food stalls, and a charming tea garden. For collectors, a “collectable corner” will also be featured.

Vintage and veteran car rides will enhance the old-time atmosphere, while younger visitors can enjoy wagon and pony rides, face painting, a jumping castle, and a treasure hunt throughout the museum grounds. Children will even have the chance to “join the army” by learning how to march with a wooden rifle.

Entry fees are R30 for adults, R20 for pensioners, and R10 for students. Stallholders can book a space for R100.
