Crowd gathers in Glencoe as murder accused makes first court appearance

A man appears in Glencoe Magistrate’s Court following the fatal shooting of a taxi driver on Saturday.

A large crowd gathered at Glencoe Magistrate’s Court today,  Tuesday, November 18, as a man accused of shooting and killing a taxi driver made his first court appearance.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, provincial KZN SAPS spokesperson, told the Courier that the suspect was arrested shortly after the taxi driver was shot dead in central Wasbank on Saturday afternoon.

“The motive for the shooting is not yet known,” Netshiunda said.

The accused’s appearance drew widespread public interest, with SAPS and traffic officials stationed at the court on Biggar Street to maintain security.
