Joint security operation arrests armed robbery suspect in Annieville

A joint security operation has led to the arrest of a suspect linked to a series of armed robberies across the Umzinyathi and uThukela districts.
Security officers who spoke to the Courier on condition that they are not named said he operation, conducted on January 2, involved iThemba Security Special Intervention, Discover Grace Security, SAPS Dundee Public Order Policing and SAPS Nquthu.

The team acted on information relating to an armed robbery gang that had evaded arrest in November 2025 after committing multiple robberies at chain stores in the two districts.

In one of the cases under investigation, a police officer was robbed of his service firearm during a robbery at a chain store.
Members proceeded to Annieville, Dannhauser, where they tactically surrounded an identified target. A suspect positively linked to the robberies was arrested, and exhibits were seized.
The KZN SAPS provincial office has been contacted for further comment and details will be updated when the information becomes available.
