Police weed out dagga consignment

The bags of dagga weighed over 150kgs

Alert officers from the Colenso Visible Policing Unit foiled the plans of drug dealers while patrolling along the R103 on Saturday (March 11).

A consignment of marijuana was ‘on the move’ when the officers stopped a vehicle with three male occupants.

They found that the vehicle was laden with bags of dagga and immediately arrested the three suspects, aged between 21 and 34.

“The recovered dagga weighed in at 157.59kg and has a street value of approximately R150,000,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

The trio of suspects appeared in the Colenso Magistrate’s Court on March 13.
