Illegal police, army uniforms seized from home

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Madadeni after authorities seized illegal SAPS and SANDF uniforms, firearms, ammunition, and other items. Read more here:

A 36-year-old man was apprehended after illegal SAPS and SANDF uniforms and unlicensed firearms and ammunition were found at his Liester Farm homestead, Madadeni, last week.

The operation was carried out by the Amajuba District Task Team, Amajuba District Crime Intelligence, and Dannhauser SAPS Tracing Team, under the Madadeni policing precinct.

Items recovered from the suspect’s homestead included:

  • One silver 9mm Norinco pistol with 15 live rounds of ammunition (serial number filed off)
  • One Star pistol with 12 live rounds of ammunition (serial number filed off)
  • One shotgun rifle (serial number filed off)
  • 19 shotgun rounds
  • Two SAPS uniform trousers
  • One army helmet
  • One army bulletproof vest
  • One army beret
  • One army trouser
  • One army jacket
  • Two SAPS reflector jackets
  • Silver handcuffs
  • One large black bag of Stuyvesant and Coxley cigarettes
  • SIM cards
  • Grinders
  • Number plates

The suspect made his first court appearance on August 29 and was remanded to appear again on September 5.
