Police arrest man after road rage shooting in Newcastle

Police arrested a man after a heated road rage argument ended in a shooting in Ncandu Park. Read more here:

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder following a road rage incident in Ncandu Park on October 17.

Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, Lizzy Arumugam, said the incident occurred on Tugela Avenue, where an argument between two drivers turned violent.

“The two men were allegedly involved in a heated exchange when the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim in his left hip,” said Arumugam.

The injured man was rushed to Madadeni Provincial Hospital, where he received urgent medical attention and is recovering.

The suspect has since made his first appearance in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
