A dead body was discovered in an open field along Helpmekaar Road, near the Bloukrans Industrial Area, this morning (July 15).

This after police responded to reports of a murder/robbery. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of a 45-year-old man who had sustained stab wounds.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, it is alleged that two men were nearby and witnessed the deceased being robbed and stabbed. They were also robbed of their cellphones by the same two unknown suspects.

One of the robbers was armed with a pistol and the other with a knife.

Khan added that police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, and are investigating the murder and robbery.
