Mayor comforts councillor after disappointing election results

The mayor pleaded with the community to put politics aside and allow development in the area now that the elections are over

Yesterday (June 6), Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza jokingly comforted ANC Ward 10 Councillor Edith Lite and reassured her that she is still a ward councillor. A smiling Myeza said nothing will change until the 2026 municipal election. He said this at the Colita Community Hall during the introduction of the contractor that will construct the Colita Bridge.

This after Cllr Lite revealed at the same event that some people have been teasing her after MK won Ward 10.

The community applauded when Cllr Lite reassured them that she is not going anywhere; she is still a ward councillor. Other councillors who attended the event also jokingly teased and comforted her about losing the VD to the MK Party.

According to the results on the IEC website, the MK in Ward 10 outperformed the other parties by getting 45.13% of the votes, while the ANC got 27%, DA 15%, IFP 7.89% and EFF 1.5%.
