3rd annual Spring Horse Race brings excitement to town

Newcastle Municipality successfully hosted its 3rd annual Newcastle Spring Horse Race event at Drycut in Madadeni over the weekend.
Building anticipation and excitement, the municipality led a vibrant street parade that brought colour, fashion and entertainment to the town ahead of the highly anticipated racing spectacle.
According to the municipality’s communications department, the initiative reflected its commitment to supporting events that promote sport, culture, entertainment, fashion and local economic development.
“The lively procession attracted residents, visitors and various stakeholders, creating an energetic atmosphere throughout the town as Newcastle embraced the spirit of the Spring Horse Race,” they said.
Adding glamour and flair to the occasion were fashionistas and style enthusiasts who turned heads in striking and creative outfits.
“Their participation transformed the parade into a colourful celebration of fashion, individuality and self-expression, further enhancing the lifestyle appeal associated with the horse racing event.”
Racing programme delivers sport and entertainment
More than just a race day, this year’s event culminated in a flagship programme featuring eight to nine thrilling races, including a dedicated women’s race and international races.
