Memel to Newcastle Walk postponed
The annual event will now take place on Heritage Day (September 24).
The organisers of the annual Itec Memel to Newcastle Walk have announced the postponement of the event, from next Tuesday to September 24 (Heritage Day).
The event will celebrate 26 years of existence this year. We want to give all clubs, companies and event supporters the opportunity to have time to enter and practice for the event,” said Johan Pieters of the Champ Group of Companies.
Companies, friends and families can enter teams of five to either walk or run 51,5 kilometres from Memel to Newcastle, while individuals can take on the province-to-province event and show their stamina.
Organisers are planning to have a festival atmopshere at the finish line, with a big screen erected to air the Springboks versus Argentina match at 17:00. Teams can also enter the potjiekos competition and vie for the best ‘heritage pot’ in town.
