Newborn baby survives being thrown 1.6m from hospital window
The mother is believed to have had a history of mental illness, which most likely led to her actions on September 16.
Police are investigating an attempted murder case after a mother allegedly threw her newborn baby out of a window at Newcastle Provincial Hospital.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 16, leaving hospital staff in a state of shock and disbelief.
Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer Lizzy Arumugam confirmed the ‘horrific ordeal’ and stated that a case of attempted murder has been opened at Newcastle police station.
The case was then forwarded to the Newcastle Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation.”
