Rugby boys don’t let their opponents onto the scoreboard
The 'Blue Machines' showed their true mettle and ferocity, winning the tournament to bring home the trophy.
The U/18 Sarel Cilliers 7s rugby team left for Durban recently to take part in the Kings Rugby 7s at Kingsway High School.
The boys played three matches on the Friday and another three matches on the Saturday.
Dedication, teamwork and fitness paid off and the boys were fast, efficient and ruthless in their domination of the field.
On Saturday, the team played against St Henry’s and won 26-0.
They went on to defeat Voortrekker High School 36-0 and triumphed against Port Natal High School 47-0.
The U/18s showed true grit and determination, not giving an inch, and their opponents were unable to even get onto the scoreboard.

The players were delighted to receive medals and backpacks from the sponsors, and would like to thank coach Mr Charles Dube and Sarel Cilliers sponsor Orange Grove for this opportunity to showcase the talent from a small town.
Glencoe was a hive of activity over the weekend, with Sarel Cilliers High School and Glencoe Primary School hosting the officials and selectors for the KZN Inland cricket teams.
Players from all over KZN descended on Glencoe to show off their batting, bowling and fielding skills.
It is fantastic to see that the girls are showing great proficiency on the field as well and that the future of girls’ cricket looks positive.
The officials were impressed by the facilities on offer, especially the newly-upgraded cricket nets, and gave positive feedback on their stay and the talent on show, despite the water shortages plaguing the town.
Sarel Cilliers looks forward to receiving the results from the selectors, and would like to thank Mr Steven Joubert and principal Mr Soobramoney for all his hard work in making this endeavour possible.
Sarel Cilliers hosted an Entrepreneurs Day on Monday, with many exciting stalls and events planned.
Budding business gurus set up stalls and showed off their entrepreneurial skills.
The KZN Inland Provincial girls’ U/16 and U/19 final trials were held for the first time ever in Northern Natal at Sarel Cilliers High School Glencoe, and it was a privilege and a great honour to host 44 girls and 13 coaches and selectors for an action-packed weekend.
The U/16 team chosen here will play in East London and the U/19s will play in Bloemfontein.
Thank you to Glencoe Primary School’s Mr Lian van Rooyen for hosting the other field in order to contribute to the history made over the weekend.
