Jaws-of-life used to rescue motorist

The driver of the van had to be extricated from the wreckage

One person was badly injured in a crash involving a panel van and a truck on the N3 today (November 2).

The collision took place on the northbound carriageway near the Bergville Toll Plaza.

The jaws-of-life had to be used to rescue the driver of the van, who was trapped in the mangled wreckage. He was stabilised and then rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.

Police, Public Safety, RTI, ER24 and Dave’s Panelbeaters responded to the scene.
