Police raids recover illegal firearms and ammunition

The two suspects will face charges of being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and are in custody pending a bail application.

Two men were arrested, and two illegal firearms and ammunition seized following a raid in the Eqhudeni area of Nquthu last Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by the Glencoe K9 Unit and Umzinyathi District Task Team after police received information.
The firearms have been sent for ballistic tests. The two suspects will face charges of being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and are in custody pending a bail application.
In a similar raid in the Nhlanhleni area of Pomeroy in the early hours of Wednesday morning, involving various units, one man was arrested for possession of illegal firearms. Two firearms and ammunition was recovered. The suspect will appear in court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Cable theft suspects appear in court.
Three suspects arrested in connection with cable theft appeared briefly in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on Monday and were remanded into custody pending a bail application on February 22.
They have also applied for legal aid.
