Residents without electricity and water
Power might not be back until the weekend, says a reliable source
Many Ladysmith residents have been without both electricity and water since yesterday (January 10).
Speaking to a reliable source who did not want to be named, it does not look like power will be restored before the weekend.Â
Residents are urged to take precautions and be on high alert when it comes to electrical appliances.Â
According to uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza, water levels are currently low and Alfred Duma Local Municipality are currently trying to sort out the electrical problem at the raw water pump station.

There is not enough water to supply the Ladysmith area, he says. “We therefore request communities to use water sparingly. Apologies for the inconvenience caused,” said Mkhonza.Â
