Possibility of residents being without water for the weekend?

It is unknown when the water supply will be restored

Residents of Acaciavale, Hillside, Rose Park, Chisty Place and Ezakheni are up in arms with uThukela, as they have gone three days without water.

These residents are doubly angry because it is believed that they may possibly go the entire weekend without water. It is alleged that the service provider took the pumps from the Mbizeni Water Plant (Ezakheni).

According to a reliable source, the staff have not been paid their December overtime, but they are still reporting to work. However, they claim they cannot pump water, as the main pump used to pump water from the Tugela River to the water treatment plant was removed.

It is believed that the removal of the water pump is not linked to the industrial action, but a dispute between the service provider and uThukela about non-payment.
