Water leak at Koekie Jacobsz Senior Centre a danger

Fresh drinking water is pouring down the drain

A massive water leak outside the entrance to the Koekie Jacobsz Senior Centre has residents and home management fuming!

The leak was reported on Sunday morning (March 10) to uThukela District Municipality, according to maintenance manager Martiens Wentzel. “The pipe  is leaking in several places and has already begun forming a sinkhole under the paving at the entrance. This poses a danger to those entering the home,” he explained.

uThukela staff were busy this morning (March 11), attempting to repair a leak in the newly-installed metal pipe stretching across a donga at the bottom of Ruby Gailey Drive.

Because of this leak, residents in both the Juana Maria Old Age Home and the Koekie Jacobsz Senior Centre have low water pressure.
