March to celebrate ‘World Social Work Day’

Local social workers took to Murchison Street today (March 19) for a peaceful march to celebrate ‘World Social Work Day’.
“World Social Work Day is celebrated worldwide on the third Tuesday of March. The month of March is set aside to recognise and highlight the contribution of social work professionals to the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities across the globe,” explained one of the marchers.

This year’s theme is ‘Shared Future for Transformative Change’, which emphasises the need for social workers to adopt innovative, community-led approaches that are grounded in indigenous wisdom and harmonious co-existence with nature.
