‘We’re aware of the water problem in uThukela,’ says IFP president
He also commented on the decision by Minister of Water & Sanitation Senzo Mchunu to invoke Section 63 of the Water Services Act
IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa has acknowledged the water challenge in the IFP-led uThukela District Municipality.
Addressing a rally in Uitval Ward 35 yesterday (May 9), Hlabisa told IFP members that it’s just a matter of time until they solve the water problem.
He made a commitment that the water issue will be solved by December 2025.

“I am calling upon all the councillors in the uThukela District to work together and put in more effort so we can solve this problem. I will be coming back more often to monitor the progress, and December 2025 is the deadline,” said Hlabisa.
