Sewer leaks frustrate Limit Hill residents

The problems have been reported on numerous occasions

Slow service delivery has become the norm in the community of Limit Hill, with shocking sewer leaks springing up all over the place. For years, residents of Limit Hill have been struggling with sewer problems.

Ward committee member Jennifer Rehman took the Ladysmith Gazette around the area, pointing out different sewer leaks. One of the leaks is behind the Limit Hill Community Hall and dirty water is flowing into a donga, which is a health hazard in itself. To make matters worse, electrical cables are hanging into the water

Another two leaks are located at the back of a resident’s home. This situation has been problematic for him for years; they are pensioners who say this is detrimental to their health.

The homeowners have even resorted to leaving their property from time to time and visiting relatives just to escape the situation. “We have reported these problems on several occasions, but they keep on recurring and when it is hot, we suffer a lot because of the heat, not to mention the smell. We are pensioners and this is affecting us badly,” said one of the homeowners.
