Skills programme uplifts deserving young people

The Malitine Foundation has announced the successful implementation of its skills development project aimed at aiding the underprivileged and unemployed youth of the Amajuba District.

The project, sponsored by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), aims to combat poverty and unemployment by teaching participants to create handmade products such as bags, cushions, wallets, and key chains – all made from skin and hides.

To offer practical market exposure, the Foundation partnered with the Newcastle Mall on Saturday, November 2, which allowed the students to showcase and sell their creations, and gain valuable experience in sales and entrepreneurship.

They are confident that the programme is making a difference to many.
