New houses to be built for storm victims

The project is expected to create about 46 temporary jobs

Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi has introduced the contractor that will build houses in Acaciavale (Ward 20) for families that were affected by a severe storm in 2020.

The mayor made this announcement at a public meeting held yesterday (November 20) at the construction site on the corner of Juniper Street and Centenary Road.

A total of 20 houses will be built and the project is expected to take less than six months to complete.

Sibisi said this project was ‘donated’ to the municipality by the Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Ward 20 Cllr Abbas Warasally welcomed the initiative on behalf of the community.

The mayor was accompanied by Cllrs T Njoko, S Msimanga and Abbas Warasally, along with municipal officials.
