Police shoot suspected armed robber in Boxing Day shoot-out

Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining two fugitives

A suspected armed robber was shot by police while another surrendered following a dramatic shoot-out between Ndatshane and Slonjane, near Emondlo, on Boxing Day. The drama unfolded when police officers responded to a complaint in Ndatshane and received information about an armed robber in Esigodini.

While en route, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ getaway car. A high-speed chase ensued, ending when the suspects pulled over at the Ndatshana River. The four men jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire on the officers, who returned fire. One of the suspects was shot in the leg, while two others fled the scene. A fourth suspect handed himself over to the police.

Both officers were unharmed in the exchange. The arrested suspects faces charges of attempted murder, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining two fugitives.
