Mayor launches R2-million low water crossing rehab project

The project aims to address critical community needs, especially for schoolchildren and emergency services.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi visited the Mtateni Community Hall in Ward 17 to introduce Siwelile Mose Projects as the contractor appointed for the rehabilitation of the Mtateni low water crossing.

The R2-million project, funded by a disaster grant from CoGTA, aims to address critical community needs, especially for schoolchildren and emergency services. It is expected to be completed within four months, creating 10 employment opportunities for locals.

The mayor urged residents to protect the new infrastructure and report any concerns to the ward councillor or the Office of the Mayor.

He also announced upcoming projects, including an asphalt road in Ward 20 and low water crossing rehabilitation in Ward 30.
