Two people suffered serious injuries after a fire broke out at a property on Guttenburg Street in Riverside Industrial earlier this afternoon.

Craig Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance, said the indident occurred at around 14:30.

Botha said the fire broke out while workers were grinding metal.

“Despite a calm exterior, a palpable sense of worry permeated the scene as emergency services assessed the situation,” Botha added.

KZPA paramedics quickly provided on-site medical assistance to the two injured men.

“While the exact details are still under investigation, preliminary reports suggested a flashover occurred during the grinding process, Botha said.
