Roads blocked around Durnacol amid protest action

Motorists are urged to avoid routes out of Durnacol after protest action led to road blockages.

Burning tyres greeted Durnacol residents this morning as several roads leading out of the area, including routes towards Number Seven and Number Six, were blocked during protest action.

Durnacol residents told the Courier that the reason for the strike is unclear. Members of the South African Police Service were deployed to the affected areas and were monitoring the situation.

Police on the scene said no official details had yet been provided regarding the cause of the protest.

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected routes where possible, plan alternative travel routes and exercise caution. Residents are urged to stay alert as the situation develops.
