Vryheid High School wraps up action-packed week

Vryheid High School celebrates a week of sport, teamwork and learner achievement.

Vryheid High School (VHS) ended off a productive and exciting week filled with outstanding achievements and learner engagement.

Annual relay evening draws six schools

On Wednesday last week, the VHS sports grounds hosted the Annual Relay Evening, a prestigious event featuring six participating schools: Vryheid High School, Sarel Cilliers High School, Vryheid Landbou, Ferrum High School, Hoërskool Pionier, and Dundee High School. The evening was filled with enthusiasm as supporters cheered on their teams, creating an electric atmosphere.

Ferrum High School emerged victorious overall, followed by Hoërskool Pionier in second place and Vryheid High School securing third position.

The school extends heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, staff and coaches whose hard work made the event a success.

VHS competes against Volksrust

On Saturday, VHS competed against Volksrust in various sporting codes. The rugby results were as follows: the under 14 team won 89-0, Under 15 team won 38-15, under 16 team lost narrowly 21-22, second team won 38-12, and first team claimed a 28-17 victory.

In netball, the under 14 team won 27-3, under 15 team lost 7-10, under 16 team won 12-8, second team won 10-6, and first team secured a 13-11 win.

In hockey, the girls’ first team won 3-2, second team lost 0-7, under 16 team lost 0-3, and under 14 team won 3-0.

For the boys, the first team lost 0-1, and the second team were held to a 0–0 draw.

Learners attend SANBS workshop

The Blood Drops also attended an SANBS Peer Promoters Workshop in Newcastle on Friday. A special thank you goes to Ms C Caluza for accompanying and supporting the learners during this valuable experience.

Busy week ahead for VHS

Looking ahead, the school anticipates several upcoming events: The SGB elections were held on Tuesday and Pionier athletics are being held today (Wednesday).

The Valentine’s dance and cake sale, on Thursday, promises a wonderful celebration of love and appreciation; and the learners are wished the very best for the Sarel Cilliers Sports Day on Saturday.
