Fun welcome for artisan appies

Newcastle motorists have been chuckling as apprentices in tutus collect donations during a playful workplace initiation.

Newcastle motorists driving through the Impala Drive / Victoria Road intersection may be wondering what on earth is going on. Men are prancing around, wearing women’s clothing and asking for donations!

A man wearing a blue T-shirt, black bra, pink tutu and fairy wings stands in the middle of a road holding a handwritten cardboard sign asking for donations.
One of the ‘appies’.

Well, the answer is simple. Donning their fluffiest tutus and brightest shades of lipstick, artisan apprentices (appies) are undergoing initiation with the agricultural company they started working for. It’s their weird and wonderful welcome into a fun and somewhat unconventional work family.

Any donations they collect will go towards a welcoming party that will be held later today (February 27).

Good luck with your future career, appies!
