Detective takes second position at Buffs Marathon
Constable Khumalo has proved that she is not only skilled at policing but also in athletics.
Constable SZ Khumalo from Estcourt Detective Services has proven that her talents extend beyond police work and into the sphere of athletics. The dedicated officer is fast becoming a rising sports star within the uThukela SAPS District after an impressive performance at the Buffs Marathon in East London over the weekend.
Constable shines in 10km race
Khumalo delivered a remarkable performance in the 10km race, finishing in second position with a time of 43:57. Her achievement highlights the discipline, determination and fitness that members of the SAPS bring both to their professional duties and sporting activities.
Khumalo’s success has also placed her among the stand-out athletes representing the SAPS athletics team in KwaZulu-Natal, demonstrating the positive impact of sport in promoting health, teamwork and resilience among police officers.
Fellow SAPS athletes represent uThukela District
Khumalo was not the only officer representing the SAPS athletics team at the event. Sergeant DS Mbasela from Ezakheni SAPS and Sergeant TA Khumalo from Ladysmith SAPS also took part in the marathon.
Sergeant Mbasela completed the race in 48 minutes, while Sergeant Khumalo crossed the finish line in one hour and 13 minutes. Their participation reflects the strong sporting spirit within the ranks of the SAPS, and their commitment to representing the province in competitive athletics.
All three officers are proud members of the SAPS athletics team in KwaZulu-Natal, continuing to inspire colleagues and communities through both their service and sporting achievements.
