Local market draws crowds to renovated Raadsaal

Community market at the Raadsaal promotes local goods and family fun.

The historic 1885 Nieuwe Republiek Raadsaal was filled with activity and community spirit last Saturday when André van Ellinckhuyzen and the Raadsaal committee hosted a local market aimed at bringing residents together.

Supporting local stalls

Visitors had the opportunity to browse a variety of stalls offering homemade treats, handmade crafts and locally produced goods. The market placed a strong focus on supporting local produce and items, giving community members the chance to showcase their talents and products while encouraging residents to shop local.

Family fun and entertainment

Families enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, with plenty to see and do throughout the morning. Children especially had a memorable time, with a jumping castle providing hours of entertainment, while others enjoyed horse rides and sweet treats as they explored the different stalls.

Reviving the historic venue

According to organisers, the market also served an important purpose beyond the day’s festivities. The initiative aims to attract more visitors to the Raadsaal following its recent renovations and to reintroduce the historic building as an active community venue.

Funds raised during the market will go towards the ongoing maintenance of the building, as well as future renovation projects to ensure the preservation and continued use of the landmark.
