Bringing healthcare to Ikhaya Lethu Children’s Home
The children received health screenings, dental guidance and hampers during the Ramadaan outreach programme.
Outreach visit on Ramadaan morning
On Sunday, March 8, the Islamic Medical Association (IMA) Ladysmith, together with learners from the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC), visited Ikhaya Lethu Children’s Home in Colenso for a special outreach programme. The visit took place on a cool Ramadaan morning, providing a meaningful way to give back to the community.
Comprehensive health screenings
The initiative offered the children optometry, audiology and dentistry screenings. Any abnormalities detected during the assessments were addressed immediately, with follow-ups planned in the coming weeks to ensure ongoing care and support.
Promoting dental hygiene
An oral hygienist educated the children on proper dental care, stressing the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and gums. The sessions were interactive and designed to encourage good oral hygiene habits.
Hampers and appreciation
At the conclusion of the programme, each child received a hamper prepared by the IEC team, bringing smiles and joy. IMA Ladysmith expressed sincere thanks to the staff at Ikhaya Lethu for facilitating the visit.
The organisation also extended appreciation to the team and IEC learners for their commitment and dedication during the blessed month of Ramadaan.
