Comrades qualification highlights VAC success in Secunda

VAC athletes deliver strong performances at Kosmos Marathon, including Comrades qualification and endurance feats.

Three members of Vryheid Athletic Club (VAC) participated in the Kosmos 3-in-1 Marathon in Secunda this past weekend and delivered impressive performances across the various distances.

Strong performances across distances

Simphiwe Magubane completed the 21.1 km race in a time of 02:23:02, showing great determination on the challenging route.

Comrades qualification achieved

Jaco Booysen achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the Comrades Marathon. He completed the 42.2 km marathon in a time of 04:54:02.

Iron woman takes on all three races

VAC’s ‘iron woman’, Tholiwe Hlope, bravely took on all three distances during the event. She completed a remarkable total distance of 73.3 km. Her times were as follows: 42.2 km in 05:46:08, 21.1 km in 03:20:27, and the 10 km in 01:32:40, with an overall finishing time of 10:39:16.

Easter run event announced

VAC will also be hosting our Easter Run on Tuesday, March 24. This will be our Thursday on the Run – Easter Edition, but it will take place on the Tuesday instead of the usual Thursday.

The event will take place from our clubhouse at Hoërskool Pionier. Registration will start at 16:30, and the fun run will begin at 17:30.
