Join the fight to protect Newcastle’s air, water and overall health

Newcastle residents are urged to join SSPN to help oppose coal mining applications and protect the town’s environment.

Newcastle-based non-profit organisation SAVE, SERVE AND PROTECT NEWCASTLE (SSPN) is calling on residents to become members and support its campaign to protect the community’s quality of life.

The organisation aims to safeguard Newcastle’s natural surroundings, and the health and well-being of its residents amid economic uncertainty and a growing number of questionable coal mine applications in the area.

Group seeks stronger public support

SSPN is circulating a membership form and encouraging residents to sign up and join what it describes as a crucial effort to safeguard our rights as residents.

The organisation says every resident should understand the potential impact that dangerous mining operations could have on Newcastle, and lend their support to the campaign.

Membership is free, so anyone and everyone can join.

One form covers all future objections

According to SSPN representative Kush Singh, the group previously had to ask supporters to complete a separate objection form for every mining application or legal process it challenged.

“However, if people become members of SSPN by completing this one form, they will automatically be represented in every case that SSPN responds to,” said Singh.
