Help Smokkelhuiz Band get to Afri-Indie Music Awards

They have been nominated for 'Best Rock Single' and need the community's support to attend the awards ceremony.

Newcastle’s very own Smokkelhuiz Band has received a prestigious nomination at the Afri-Indie Music Awards for their latest song, ‘Mure’.

The track has been nominated for ‘Best Rock Single’, placing the local band among talented independent musicians recognised at this year’s awards.

Band seeks community support for awards journey

The Afri-Indie Music Awards will take place in August in Pretoria, and the band has been given two tickets for members to attend the special event.

However, the group hopes to have all five band members present for what could be one of the biggest moments in their musical journey.

The additional cost for the remaining three members – including transport, accommodation and tickets – is estimated at around R5000.

The band is now calling on the Newcastle community for support to help them make the trip and celebrate their achievement together.

Anyone who would like to help Smokkelhuiz Band can contact Johan van Schalkwyk on 082 775 8352.
