Power outage affects several streets

The AbaQulusi Local Municipality said the incident occurred in Kommissie Street and President Street, disrupting the electricity supply to the surrounding areas.

The outage is affecting the corners of Kommissie, President and West streets, as well as the streets between Republic, Deputasie, Hlobane and Small streets.

Repairs under way

Municipal technicians have assessed the damage and are sourcing the materials needed to carry out repairs.

Power is expected to be restored within approximately four hours, although the municipality said this could change depending on the extent of the damage and the progress of the repair work.

Residents urged to remain cautious

Residents are urged to treat all electrical connections, appliances and installations as live during the outage, as electricity may be restored without prior notice.

The latest incident is one of a series of cable theft cases that have disrupted electricity supply in Vryheid in recent weeks, leaving residents and businesses without power while costly repairs are carried out.
