A 33-year-old man is expected to appear in the Magudu Magistrate’s Court on Monday after police recovered dagga with an estimated street value of R2 million near the Pongola River.

Intelligence leads police to hidden stash

According to police, officers acted on intelligence that four men had been seen carrying bales of compressed dagga before concealing them in a bushy area near the river.

Police searched the area and recovered 19 bales of compressed dagga.

One arrested, three escape

One suspect was arrested at the scene, while three others allegedly fled before they could be apprehended.

The 33-year-old is expected to appear in the Magudu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 27, on a charge of dealing in dagga.

Search continues for remaining suspects

Police said investigations are continuing as officers work to trace and arrest the three remaining suspects believed to be involved in the drug operation.
