A prayer group known as the Midnight Watchers recently hosted its second Eshilo Annual Conference under the theme ‘Building a Prayer Altar’ at King Shenge Village.

Mission rooted in prayer

The Midnight Watchers is made up of members from different congregations who gather in prayer every day at midnight. Founder Thandeka Sibisi said the group’s mission is to stand in the gap through prayer for families, churches, communities and the nation.

“The main purpose of hosting this event is to return thanks to God for answering the prayers we offer every day,” said Sibisi.

She said the group’s guiding scripture comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which encourages believers to “pray continually.”

Guest speakers share God’s Word

The thanksgiving ceremony featured guest speakers, including Pastor Thwala, who served as the programme director, Pastor Gcabashe, an author from Durban, and Pastor Ntshayinshayi from Ulundi, who shared messages based on the Word of God.

Building stronger families through faith

Sibisi said the group’s vision extends beyond prayer by encouraging strong Christian values within families.

“Our vision is to teach believers to pray consistently while also strengthening families. We teach that wives should respect and submit to their husbands, while husbands should lead and love their families. We also encourage young women to remain pure for God’s Kingdom and teach women the importance of working with their own hands rather than depending on others,” she said.

A message of gratitude

She expressed her gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the event and extended special thanks to her spiritual father from Vryheid Grace House for his guidance and support.
