Dundee High School (DHS) enjoyed another successful weekend of sport, with its girls’ cricket team reaching the Super 8 final and four tennis players producing impressive performances for Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Girls reach Super 8 final

The DHS girls’ cricket team delivered an outstanding display at the Super 8 Cricket Tournament hosted by the school on Saturday.

The home side opened with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Pionier before repeating the result against the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Invitational team to secure a place in the final.

Although Ferrum 1 proved too strong in the decider, claiming a 34-run victory, DHS could take great pride in reaching the final after two convincing wins. The tournament highlighted the team’s talent, determination and continued growth.

Tennis players excel

Four DHS learners also represented Northern KwaZulu-Natal at a regional tennis tournament held from July 24 to 26 at St Dominic’s, Ferrum and Huttenpark high schools.

Mandie Conradie enjoyed an unbeaten tournament, winning both her singles matches, helping to an 8-0 doubles victory and claiming success in both her mixed doubles matches.

Aryan Mungru also impressed, winning both his singles matches before partnering Reinard Meyer for an excellent 8-1 doubles victory.

Chanelle Pillay teamed up with Clarissa Viviers to win their doubles match 8-6 before combining with Reinard Meyer to edge a thrilling mixed doubles contest 8-7.

Azariah Pillay faced strong opposition throughout the tournament but represented both Northern KwaZulu-Natal and Dundee High School with determination and fighting spirit.
