Newcastle CBD faces 5 days of power cuts
The planned interruption of electricity supply is to facilitate essential maintenance work.
Residents and businesses within the Newcastle CBD and its surroundings will be facing electricity interruptions over the next five days.
According to a statement released by the municipality’s communications department, the planned interruption of electricity supply is to facilitate essential maintenance work on the 132kV power lines.
Maintenance scheduled for five days
The planned maintenance outage will take place over five days, from today (September 7) to Friday (September 11) between 08:00 and 16:00.
“Residents are advised to take the necessary precautions and plan accordingly for the duration of the interruption,” read the statement.
The municipality reminds all residents that during the period of the outage, all electrical installations and appliances must be treated as live at all times, as the electricity supply may be restored without prior notice.
“The municipality sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this planned interruption may cause and appreciates residents’ patience, co-operation and understanding,” they concluded.
